God of the Impossible
"Here I am, Lord, send me/ I won't look back ‘cause I was made/ To be a part of the impossible/ You're God of the impossible/ Here I am, Lord, send me/ I won't back down ‘cause I believe/ You are the God of the impossible /Here I am, send me!"
God has truly shown the Ignite Youth Ministry that He is the God of the impossible. The things that have happened in the past 2 weeks could not have happened in our own strength. We prayed and relied on God to make incredible things happen and He did! Let me tell you just what my awesome God did!
Well September 3rd and 4th I had the opportunity to share my testimony with the Jr and Sr High. As the Creative team was preparing for MessFest I was thinking about how it would be EXACTLY 6 years since I trusted Jesus as my Savior at Fight Night on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 and I just asked if I could share my testimony. As soon as the words were out of my mouth I was like, wait, what did I just ask to do?? I want to stand in front of a bunch to teenagers and speak? Um, no I really don't. But Pastor Matt loved the idea and I wasn't going to take it back. I spent several hours writing out exactly what I was going to say and working the gospel into my testimony until it sounded very natural. I prayed about it as I was writing, just that God would give me the right words to say and that He would take away the paralyzing anxiety that I knew would try to sneak in. Well Wednesday the 3rd came and I was very shaky and felt sick before going on stage. But with my first step on stage I was much more calm and I stood in front of those Jr High kids and told them about how 6 years ago I was just like them and 6 years before my life had changed completely. I told them about how God has been changing my life and how Jesus could change their lives too. I gave them the opportunity to accept Christ as their Savior and THREE students placed their trust in Jesus that night! I got off stage just amazed that God could use an anxiety ridden girl like me to bring not one, not two but THREE teenagers to know Him. I was so excited and had a "nothing can ruin tomorrow" attitude. Well then I was speaking on Thursday night and my microphone cord was malfunctioning. It kept cutting out and I finally figured out how to hold it so it would work but I was extremely anxious and was just about to run off the stage crying. Anxiety was threatening to take over and make me break down and have an anxiety attack, but that still, small Voice kept saying to me, "You aren't done. I'm not finished with you yet. I've given you this story for a reason and I want you to share it." So I stood there shaking and stuttering through the rest of my testimony. Before I gave the invitation to accept Christ I prayed to God (silently) that He better not have let me go through all of that anxiety to finish my testimony for nothing otherwise I would cry. And God delivered! Once again THREE teenagers raised their hands, indicating their decision to give their lives to Jesus!!
God can do impossible things! On my own I can't stand on stage and speak, without curling up into a ball or having an anxiety attack. I mean a week before this I had an anxiety attack at the Bridge and it was while we were just sitting in small group, I wasn't even doing anything. I was so worried that it would happen again but God had a plan. I showed up to youth group 6 years ago and believed in Jesus specifically so I could share my testimony exactly 6 years later and lead SIX teens to Christ. It's so awesome to see part of the big picture fit together!
Last Wednesday was the grand opening of Harvest's new youth center and He did more amazing things. First of all, I'm pretty sure we had over 200 people! We filled that youth center and it was so cool! Second of all, we were not ashamed to tell everyone how much we love Jesus and that is what we are all about! Third, we were blessed to have Everfound come and lead worship and give us a concert. Those guys have hearts for Jesus and are so passionate about what they do, it's awesome! I can't tell you the last time I was as lost in worship as I was that night!! I want to be that consumed by worshiping God all the time! Pastor Matt spoke about the Prodigal Son and shared the gospel, he gave an invitation to accept Jesus and get this... THIRTEEN people put their faith and trust in the One True God!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In 2 weeks Ignite has seen NINETEEN teenagers give their hearts to Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
